A Temporary position has arisen for 6 Months within the Community Mental Health Team North - Tonna Hospital/ The Forge - Port Talbot with Hybrid Working Arrangements.

The Community Mental Health Team based at both Tonna Hospital and The Forge (Port Talbot) are to appoint two temporary Deputy Team Managers with community mental health experience and a knowledge of current best practice in mental health. The newly created posts are to support the senior management team with operational delivery of the CMHT whilst the service is undergoing a period of change in response to the changing landscape of the CMHT service needs and delivery within the borough.
The current CMHT in the borough is a well-established multi-disciplinary teams, comprising of Social Workers, Community Psychiatric Nurses, Psychologist, Occupational Therapists, Consultant Psychiatric, Physical Healthcare Workers, Pharmacists and staff grade doctors. You will be joining a committed and supportive, motivated team, who work hard to deliver excellent standards in a positive working environment.
The CMHT work closely with primary care, Police, Health board, Drugs and Alcohol Services, voluntary and other statutory and voluntary organisations, supporting individuals with care and support needs across the county.
We have excellent partnership arrangements with the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment team, Single Point of Access, inpatient care services, Local Primary Mental Health Services/ therapies Team, and Community Drug and Alcohol team, Housing Advice and other adult services teams, including the network disability team and community network teams.
Furthermore we work alongside our colleagues in Children and Young People Services, Child and Adolescent Mental health Services to support young people through the transition of services.
A sound value base and excellent communication skills are also essential. Social Workers in the team are involved in undertaking Assessments, Reviews and Care Planning and need to have the enthusiasm to play an active role in delivering a high quality service to our service users.
The post holders will be expected to supervise and support team members in carrying out tasks, to report to the team manager and senior management regarding the progress of the team. To manage more complex cases and to investigate complaints.
You would be expected to work within the legislative framework of the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) and the Mental Health Measure (Wales) 2010, along with demonstrating an understanding of how to work in a strength-based, outcome focused way.
Please note that you must possess a relevant qualification in social work and be registered with Social Care Wales.

You will have;
Applicants will need to be social work qualified and professionally registered as a social worker with Social Care Wales. Experience of working in a mental health and Approved Mental Health Professional status would also be advantageous.
You will need a knowledge and working practice of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014, to include outcome focused assessment and a working knowledge of the Mental Health Measures (2010), Continuing Health Care, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 including Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
