Responsabilies of role:
Support the development and implementation of the organisation&©s highly-complex Data and BI Strategy which will position us to make highly optimised data-informed decisions right across SWTRA&©s service areas Take responsibility for historic and future data management across the organisation, working with all service areas to ensure alignment to the Data and BI Strategy Support the development and implementation of a strategy to tackle complex data quality issues that need to be resolved, to ensure confidence in our products and services Managing, cleaning, abstracting and aggregating data alongside a range of analytical studies on that data. Identifying, collecting and migrating complex data to/from a range of systems, and delegating to their team where required. Summarising and presenting the results of data analysis to a range of senior stakeholders, making recommendations. Using a range of analytical techniques such as data mining, time series, forecasting and modelling techniques to identify and predict trends in a variety of complex data types. Working with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver findings, with oversight from the IT Manager. Building capability and continually developing programming and analysis skills of self and others through line managing Data Analysts. Proactively stay up to date on the latest cutting-edge data analytics approaches and tools. Investigate issues and develop solutions by analysing data from various sources. Map, produce, transform and test new data feeds for data owners and consumers, advising on the most appropriate tools and techniques leading ad hoc data exploration in a wide variety of data serialisation and storage formats, from across the organisation, for data consumers. Designing, coding, testing, correcting and documenting moderate to complex programmes and scripts from agreed specifications and subsequent iterations, using agreed standards and tools. Proactively exploring areas of innovation across the public sector and industry. Manipulating and linking different complex data sets as required. Interpreting and applying relevant data information security standards, policies and procedures to data. Performing routine statistical analysis and ad-hoc queries which may include the production of complex reports. Develop data standards to ensure our data is accessible and can be used in conjunction with a wide range of other data sources Arrange training and input across teams to assist managers in analysing data within their own areas and use analytics to monitor report usage across the organisation Have an awareness of the bigger picture and act as a data strategic escalation point for the team. Be pro-active in establishing good working relationships with senior management and policy leads, across SWTRA, NMWTRA, Traffic Wales, Welsh Government and other key stakeholders, to ensure that the advice and recommendations provided are trusted and acted upon. Have an in-depth knowledge of Agile and other methodologies and champion across the wider Division.
