Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time 37 hours per week
NPT’s Children & Young People’s Service has an opportunity for a committed and dedicated Social Worker to join our Looked After Children’s Team to meet the needs of the LAC population within Neath Port Talbot.
Your role as a Social Worker will be to fulfil the Council’s obligations as a corporate parent with a focus on building strong, positive and meaningful relationships with children and their families. You will bring a wealth of knowledge to the post and be inspirational in your approach to managing complex cases.
Staff turnover within the team is low, therefore you will join a busy stable team working with a diverse range of children and young people who reside with foster carers, kinship carers, Special Guardian’s, in residential placements, with their parents under court orders, and Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC). We have built positive and established relationships with our multi-agency partners and the communities that we serve. The average caseload for Social Workers in the team is currently 15.
NPT has an innovative and forward-looking Social Services team. We are able to adapt to change, be flexible in our approach, and seek to achieve sustainable solutions for children and families by using bespoke, creative and outcome focused plans, making a difference to their lives and improving their wellbeing so they have the best start in life.
We like to pride ourselves on being a service that strives for excellence and supports its employees to achieve their potential by incorporating a comprehensive induction programme, providing regular supervision and appraisals, and facilitating ongoing training and development with opportunities for progression throughout the service.
Our service shares best practice and supports working groups, such as the First Three Years in Practice Group and the Practice Improvement Group. We are proud to have a strong and stable management team; training and developing staff remains a high priority and average caseloads per Social Worker continue to be low.
The Service has a separate Single Point of Contact Team, Childcare Disability Team, Community Children’s Teams, Fostering and Adoption Teams and a 14+ & Leaving Care Team, as well as a number of in-house support services who provide additional, early intervention provisions to families including Team Around the Family, FAST and the Working Together Service.
We can offer you secure employment with a competitive salary and generous terms and conditions including 25 days annual leave (rising to 32 days after 5 years continuous service) plus 2 extra days at Christmas, pension scheme and sick pay scheme. A brand new multi-million pound leisure facility has just opened next to our offices with reduced membership rates for staff which includes access to 5 gyms, 4 swimming pools, over 150 fitness classes and a health suite, with ample parking in the adjacent multi-story car park at a reduced rate for employees. We also have a Health and Well-being Group with a staff lottery and associated discounts.
If you think that you have the necessary experience and qualifications for this role, we would love to hear from you. Newly qualified Social Workers as well as experienced Social Workers are welcome to apply. Please note you must possess a relevant qualification in Social Work and be registered with Social Care Wales to apply for this post.
