We are currently looking to recruit a Skills Officer to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible identifying skills gaps in the local labour market and identifying and sourcing training to bridge the gaps. Supporting participants that have been affected by redundancy to access the skills fund. Within the role you will be liaising with Employers, Colleagues, Training Providers, Employability Partners and Participants to source and match training and employment opportunities. You will monitor and report on expenditure relating to participant training. The successful candidate will deal with queries from employers, training providers, colleagues and will oversee the smooth running of the ELO team.
The main duties of the post:
Alongside the ELO’s, you will have a coordinated approach to develop systems to cross match skills for those who have been made redundant from TATA UK and the Supply Chain. Exploring opportunities from businesses within NPT as well as outside, offering jobs to people.
Develop and establish employer links, promoting and fostering long-term working relationships, utilising the team’s knowledge and mapping.
Match individual needs, skills, and interests with available job opportunities.
Ensure that the team provide necessary training for individual’s prior to commencing their job and support via the mentors from in-work support at the agreed timescale.
Liaise regularly with the ELO’s and the business team to ensure up to date vacancies are recorded.
You will have experience in/of;
Experience of working with those that are facing redundancy or have been made redundant. Experience of liaising with SME’s and Third Sector. Experience of recruitment procedures. 3 Years Experience in and Employment Sectors. Experience of working with people, employers, voluntary organisations and agencies. Experience of tutoring, mentoring or coaching.
Working knowledge of recruitment practices across a variety of sectors.
Ideally you will be;
Be in possession of a Teaching Qualification (PGCE) or equivalent.
IOSH and First Aid Qualification or willingness to undergo training.
Be educated to Level 4 standard and have substantial experience in working with employers.
