We are currently seeking an individual to join our team as a Recycling Awareness and Compliance Officer within the Waste Projects and Community Engagement Section.
We are a small but dedicated team working directly with communities to support residents in managing their waste and improving recycling outcomes across the borough. Our work plays a key role in helping the council meet its recycling targets, and we are proud of the impact we make every day.

As a Recycling Awareness and Compliance Officer, you will be at the forefront of promoting recycling and improving waste behaviours in your designated community area. Your primary responsibility is to engage with residents to improve recycling rates and ensure compliance with waste presentation regulations.
Your daily routine involves.
Area Management: You will be assigned a dedicated area where you will monitor and investigate issues related to the early or late presentation of household waste.
Resident Engagement: Communicate with residents through verbal interactions and written correspondence to address non-compliance. Where necessary, escalate cases by issuing legal notices in accordance with council procedures.
Recycling Promotion: Actively promote the benefits of recycling within your area, encouraging residents to increase the quantity and quality of recyclable materials.
Service Requests: Respond to and complete service calls in a timely manner, ensuring all actions are logged and followed up according to established procedures.
IT System Usage: Maintain accurate records and case notes using council IT systems daily.
Vehicle Responsibility: You will be assigned a 3.5-tonne tipper vehicle, which you are responsible for maintaining and operating in line with council policies and procedures.
