We are looking for a Family Play Worker to work as part of an exciting project advising and supporting families through play, in Neath Port Talbot. Working hours will have to be flexible to meet the needs of the families and will include regular working until 5.30pm.
The project aims to improve family play opportunities, encouraging families to spend time together and strengthen their relationships.
In the main families are referred to the project from other agencies, including Team Around the Family and Children’s Social Services, although families are able to apply directly themselves. Many families working with the team are vulnerable or have complex needs and, as such, it is essential that you are able to approach the work in an open and non-judgemental way, providing support to families at their home.
You will be enthusiastic about children’s play and have experience of providing varied and quality play opportunities for children and young people. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with adults and children alike.
You should have good IT skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office in order to update and maintain electronic systems and prepare information for families. You will also be well organised, able to manage your time effectively and work efficiently with minimum supervision. Maintaining accurate family records is key and as such excellent written skills are required. Undertaking a level 3 qualification in Playwork is essential, unless already in place.
If you intend on applying for this position via a secondment opportunity, you must seek approval from your current manager before submitting an application form.
