Neath Port Talbot’s Children and Young People Services are continuing to make solid progress providing quality, supportive services and effectively manage risk for those children and families who are in need, in need of protection, and who are ‘looked after’ by Neath Port Talbot, using bespoke, creative and outcome focused plans. We are proud to have a strong and stable team; training and supporting staff remains a high priority and average caseloads per social worker continue to be low.
We are currently looking for a Deputy Team Manager to contribute to professional leadership in our Sandfields Community Children’s Team which is based in the Sandfields community, near Aberavon, Port Talbot. The team consists of 1 manager, 2 Deputy Team Managers, 1 Consultant Social worker, 7 social workers and 2 Contact/Family Support Workers who strive to provide support services to children and families who are in need in the Sandfields, Aberavon and Baglan areas with a bespoke, creative and outcome focused plan.
The team aims to provide quality, supportive services and effectively manage risk for those children and families who are in need, in need of protection and those children who are ‘looked after’ by Neath Port Talbot. The team are keen to deliver best practice in line with current policies, procedures and legislation.
You will be responsible for supporting the Team Manager in providing an efficient and effective service and assisting with management responsibilities. You will hold a small number of complex cases, provide advice, guidance and supervision to Social Workers and Support Workers in the team and contribute to the development and delivery of the service in order to maintain a high quality provision on behalf of the Authority.

You must possess a relevant qualification in Social Work, be registered with Social Care Wales, and have three years post-qualifying experience working with children and young people to be considered for this position.
