It’s an exciting time in Children and Young People Services as we continue to make solid progress towards our aims of achieving quality, supporting families and effectively managing risk. We are proud to have a strong and stable management team; training and supporting staff remains a high priority and average caseloads per social worker continue to be low.
We are currently looking for a Deputy Team Manager to join our 14+ LAC and Leaving Care Team.
The 14 + LAC and Leaving Care Team works with young people aged between 14 – 25 years old, supporting young people under Part 6 of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act 2014. The team consists of a Team Manager, two deputies, a Consultant Social Worker, a Social Work team and a team of Young Person’s Personal Advisors, working collaboratively to support young people in and leaving Local Authority care.
This post will involve holding a reduced caseload of complex cases undertaking direct work with young people between the ages of 14 and 25 years, providing high levels of support, advocacy, advice and guidance. You will be required to undertake LAC and Pathway Assessments, co-ordinate and facilitate the implementation of LAC and Pathway Plans and undertake visits in line with statutory timescales. You will have a good understanding and knowledge of the Social Services and Well-being Act 2014 and the All-Wales Child Protection Procedures.
You will provide direct supervision to social workers and Personal Advisors in line with the Local Authority supervision policy and deputise for the Team Manager in their absence, making managerial decisions for the team under the guidance of the Principal Officer.
You will work with a number of statutory and voluntary agencies to co-ordinate the effective delivery of support services for young people in and leaving Local Authority care, in line with agreed plans and current legislation.
If you would like to be part of a Service that strives for excellence and supports its employees to achieve their potential, this could be the role for you. We can offer you secure employment with a very competitive salary and generous terms and conditions including 25 days annual leave (rising to 32 days after 5 years continuous service) plus 2 extra days at Christmas, pension scheme and sick pay scheme. We also have a Health and Well-being Group with a staff lottery and associated discounts.
You must possess a relevant qualification in social work and be registered with Social Care Wales to be eligible to apply for this post.
If you think that you have the necessary experience and qualifications for this role, we would love to hear from you.
Your workstyle will be a mobile hybrid worker in this role which gives you the flexibility to work from home and from a variety of Council workplaces.
