Permanent / 37hrs per week.
As a Rating Officer, you'll be part of a small team dealing with Business Rates accounts and associated Business Improvement District (BID) Levy accounts. Ensuring you assist in the Council delivers an effective billing, collection, and recovery process. You'll take a customer focused approach to maximising revenue whilst making sure we meet our legal and statutory requirements.
You'll provide a professional service dealing with a range of queries relating to the billing, collection, and recovery of business rates by telephone, face to face, emails and letters. Supporting the Senior Rating Officer you'll be playing a crucial role in assisting the Council in maximising its resources to deliver the best possible outcomes for the business in our borough.
The main duties of the post;
You will have experience in/of;
Dealing with customers in a professional manner
Sound financial and numeracy skills
Excellent computer skills and be fully conversant with all Microsoft packages
Working with minimum supervision, using problem solving skills and initiative to provide a customer focussed support service
Ideally you will have;
A minimum of 5 GCSE’s or equivalent including Maths
